In the Calamares installer for ROME the file system list includes all file systems the operating system recognizes for a host of reasons. This does not mean one should use anything in the list for your root ( `/` ) partition. `ext4` is the official recommendation for root, `fat32` is the recommendation for `boot/efi`.
